According to GMA news., Freddie Roach, Pacquiao's Hall of Fame trainer, fired the first shot when he said that Pacquiao will easily knock out Mayweather with the way the Filipino ring icon performed against Chris Algieri in their World Boxing Organization (WBO) welterweight title fight last Sunday at the Cotai Arena inside The Venetian Macao.
Pacquiao destroyed Algieri from start to finish, punishing him with six knockdowns that prompted observers to believe that the power and the intensity of the Filipino champion inside the ring is back.
Mayweather, on the other hand, is still fresh off a back-to-back wins over Marcos Maidana in the welterweight class. While their first match was unimpressive, Mayweather showed his brilliance in the second match, even though he still failed to stop the brawler from Argentina.
"Yes, Pacquiao will beat Floyd with his performance against Algieri,” Roach told Filipino sportswriters after the postfight conference. “You know,Floyd about two years ago, I thought it’s about even. Now I think Manny will knock him out.”
Roach's reason: “Floyd can’t run like he used to. He can’t move, his legs are shot, he’s a washed up, old fighter. We’ll knock out Floyd.”
Roach added that he saw the extra bounce in Pacquiao's legs and added snap on his punches against Algieri.
